Happy Sunday. The Canadian smoke has cleared from my window, and it’s time to clear my brain. New ideas. New inspirations. Rough Translation brought you original stories from around the world, but if I’m going to continue making it after NPR, the show will have to adapt. Can you help?
Help me create the show you would like to hear. Fill out this brief poll.
As a thank you for your time, I have a very few limited-edition postcards still left from our Work season, with illustrations by Sarah Gonzales. Submit the poll by June 17th, & I will enter you to win one of those original postcards, mailed from me to you.
Also, today I needed some inspiration so I headed over to Apple podcasts - I’m so moved by your reviews. And all the notes you’ve sent me through Substack - I read every one and they really make a difference. Keep them coming!
Here’s again a link to that short poll to fill out this week:
I was so upset when Gregory apprised us on an episode of RT that NPR wasn’t going to keep supporting it. This podcast was absolutely FANTASTIC. His professionalism, warmth, sincerity and humanity was ever-present. He has the best conduct with his guests, he keeps them center stage. Hence, the episode is really all about the guest(s) and topic at hand. So many of the hosts of podcasts really are just vanity projects, and they make themselves as, or more, prominent as their “guests”. With that being said, I would love for him to be a guest on a podcast episode, so that we can hear about him. Thank you for all of the interesting episodes. Please don’t so making podcasts.
Rough Translation is one of the reasons I started listening (and also actually continued) to podcasts. It grew my world and my knowledge and understanding about it, not one episode was ever uninteresting. It is the podcast that got me listening to other npr podcasts and stimulates my interest in the world.
You have cheered me up, made me sad, inspired me and made me care about things I didn’t even knew existed. It makes me feel connected. It made me curious again. Please stay! In whatever shape or form, I would love to read, listen or watch more of your stories.
