Hi Gregory! I'm sorry to be writing only now. I've been a big fan of Rough Translation, always wanting to pitch ideas or participate. This was a lesson for me to do things when it's possible, it was a big shock and disappointment to hear the show was over. I use it A LOT in my English and Intercultural Communication classes. I'll be sure to follow what you'll be doing next and I will share and participate promptly! All the best!
Seems like it has been a rough transition not only for you, Gregory, but for getting valid information out to the world. So much misinformation and disinformation out there. Best wishes on whatever your next ventures are. Bob
Dear Gregory, I loved the RT podcast and could not get enough of it. But a newsletter is just no replacement or even a placeholder - the mediums are SO different, the times and places they can be consumed at and in are so different that i would be surprised if many of your listeners are realy avid readers. Am I wrong? I hope you come back to producing your special kind of audio stories soon!
Dear Gil, yes! I'm working on an audio project now that I am so excited to tell folks about - but it's not really quite ready for prime time. That said tho - I do want the next thing I do in audio to have some kind of newsletter component - only because it allows for more audience participation / engagement -- I can host live streams through Substack and even invite people to listen in on interviews, and also share their stories. I mean even me writing this - back to you right now -is way more than I was able to do with the podcast which was more often a one-way street. So yes, while I hear you on the mediums - they are so different - I do hope you'll have patience with me - and keep giving your feedback - as I try to figure out this newsletter part of the puzzle. I think it'll be a better more global audience because of it!
This is wonderful news! Although I will say you're the only reason why I use Substack, and even then I'm hesitant to do so. With Substack's willingness to host Nazi and white supremacist content, I am looking forward to following your work somewhere else. Or have you considered another platform besides Substack?
Hello, and Welcome Back!!!! I hope that you have been well, and are busy putting together another awesome, well-produced project. Although, I did state previously that I miss hearing your and your participants voices, I think that newsletter does have pros, especially for sharing and creating a community. I am just thankful that you are back - in any format! Finally, some actual GOOD news, for a change.
When I saw the subject line of this email, I thought at first that it was in reference to this video about the Czech and Slovak languages, which I've watched no fewer than 30 times now and which would be very on brand for RT! https://www.facebook.com/reel/962387985607150
Glad to know there's more coming, both in the newsletter and in future audio projects. There's no better source for interesting cross-cultural observations, and I miss sharing what I've learned with my students. Looking forward to it!

Oh I'm plenty patient 😁. You've probably considered Patreon - I'm a member of the Origin Story podcast community there which is really good.
